Early Life[edit]
Nicholas Byrd (born June 26, 1980), better known by his stage name N.O.K., is an African-American[1] independent hip hop artist, investor, and filmmaker. He was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire but currently resides in Phoenix, Arizona. He gained popularity in early 2000's when he began performing nationally including opening up for such artists as Nas, Method Man, Clipse, Snoop Dog, and more on the hip hop touring circuit. N.O.K. first received radio airplay on the Adam Corolla show as he created a rhyming spoof that had got some brief rotation on the famed radio show. N.O.K. has been releasing independent music since 1999 and continues to remain active in the hip hop scene. N.O.K. had numerous successes after releasing the EP "#RAPLINESMATTER"[2] in 2018. His single "Freedom"[3] produced by Tone Jonez[4] reached over 1,000,000+ views on Worldstarhiphop.com, one of the biggest hip hop sites at the time.
Nicholas was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire as one of five children of Nathalie and Chester Byrd. During Nicholas' earlier childhood he moved to New York City in the uptown area of Harlem with his Mother. After some time, it was decided that the family would move back to New Hampshire in which in 1993 it was decided to make a permanent move to the Phoenix, Arizona area.
N.O.K. began recording in 1994 at the age of 14 under the tutelage of the late Mikail "Cinematic" Muhammad. N.O.K. joined forces with family members and formed a group called "The Originows" in which they performed every opportunity they could around the city limits. Eventually the group dissolved. N.O.K. performed solo for years and collaborated with numerous artist in the Phoenix hip hop scene. N.O.K. linked with friend RTC Shogun and the recorded under the Mindspit Records moniker for an extended time. It was during this time. N.O.K. began to gain stage exposure due to opening acts for likes of Nas, Method Man, Clipse, Joe Budden, The Roots, and many more. N.O.K. performed at every major venue in Phoenix as well as "4th and B" in San Diego' and Hotel Aladdin in Las Vegas during MTV's 2006 Spring Bling event.
In 2014, N.O.K. started his own Stock/Options trading classes in the Phoenix area as well as a Multi Media / Film Company in which he hoots feature films and music visuals in the Phoenix area and abroad.
In 2018 after brief break from releasing full projects, N.O.K. officially launched his label BYRDEE ENTERTAINMENT and independently released #RAPLINESMATTER as his step back into the musical arena. From that point on N.O.K. drop two albums per year, including mixtapes and albums, until the present time.

Personal Life[edit]
N.O.K. is currently residing in the Phoenix area where he owns and operates his own film company, media/marketing entity, and Stock Market education classes.
