nGenue (pronounced n-gen-nue) is a software product designed for use by natural gas businesses. It includes the type of software functionality used by natural gas LDCs, Marketers, and Utilities to manage their day-to-day business operations, spanning operational needs from the pipeline to the city gate and from the city gate to the meter.[1]

nGenue's origins can be traced to custom inter software development within a natural gas company in the early 1990s. Then AmGas required software functionality to run its business, seeking to replace manual administration. Unable to find anything suitable for purchase, AmGas invested in the development of software whose functional focus was meeting the needs of its day-to-day business operations. Over time, AM Gas was acquired by a larger company with greater software functionality needs, followed by acquisition by yet another larger company with even greater software functionality needs. With each acquisition, the software functinality was enhanced to satisfy expanding requirements and the need for greater sophistication; all the while focused on natural gas operations.
In 2003, the software was made commercially available for purchase. Over the next 10 years, 12 natural gas businesses acquired and deployed the solution, discovered mostly via word of mouth. In 2017, a small group of former ETRM company executives entered the picture with the intent of establishing a strong brand, expanding market awareness, and availability of the software solution. At the time, the nGneue name was introduced, becoming the name of both the new business and the software itself.

nGenue comprises solutions for natural gas Billing, CIS, ETRM, and Scheduling. Made up of 17 unique software modules, nGenue may be acquired either as a fully integrated package of all four solutions or a subset of the overall functionality. The nGenue System is a server-hosted application that os most commonly deployed on-premise, but can also be deployed to the cloud. At the core of the nGneue system is a SQL Server database with nGenue users connecting to the database vie either local area network or Citrix. nGenue's approach to integration with the external system is to provide REST Web Service APIs designed and packaged specifically to handle ERP, Deal Capture(ETRM), CRM, and/or other reference data system and EDI.
