Nader Abbassi served as the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Cairo Opera Orchestra from 2002 to 2011. He made his debut in 2002 with a performance of the opera "Aida" at the Pyramids of Giza. In 2011, he became the Artistic and Musical Director of the ATARA Culture Foundation in Doha, Qatar, and the Musical Director and Principal Conductor of the newly established Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO). In 2015, he founded the United Philharmonic Orchestra, assuming the roles of Artistic Director and Principal Conductor. Additionally, he holds the position of Artistic Director of the Orchestra de la Paix in Paris.
Nader Abbassi is a permanent member of the jury at the International Stenhammar Singing Competition in Norrköping. In 2006, he conducted a performance of the opera "Maria Golovin" by the American composer Gian Carlo Menotti at the Opéra de Marseille, in the presence of the composer himself, and has since been a regular guest conductor there.
Internationally, he has conducted various orchestras, including the Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, Philharmonisches Orchester Heidelberg, Orchester des Richard-Strauss-Konservatorium München, Philharmonique de Marseille, Orchestre National Pays de la Loire, Orchestra National Bordeaux Aquitaine, Sinfonieorchester Basel, Philharmonisches Orchester Norrköping, Philharmonisches Orchester Lissabon, Slovenian Philharmonie Lubljana, and the Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra.
