Nadia Shirley Beller Delgadillo (born 31 December 1992) is a Bolivian lawyer, political analyst and activist.
In August 2026, Beller survived an assassination attempt in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, in which she was shot three times. Her then-partner, Fernando Cerimedo, was detained and investigated in connection with the attack. The case received extensive international media coverage.[1][2][3][4] The attack also resulted in a criminal investigation in Bolivia.[5][6]
Beller has participated in Bolivian politics and has appeared in the media as an analyst and columnist. In the 2019 Bolivian general election, she was a candidate for the Movement for Socialism (MAS-IPSP). She was subsequently associated with the political circle of Luis Fernando Camacho during the 2019 Bolivian political crisis.[7]
Early life and education
Beller was born on 31 December 1992 in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. She attended school in Bermejo, and Santa Cruz de la Sierra before moving to Sucre to study law at the University of Saint Francis Xavier. She obtained her law degree in 2022.[8]
Around 2014, she began working at the Departmental Court of Justice of Chuquisaca as an assistant to judge José Antonio Revilla. She later worked in a chamber of the Supreme Tribunal of Justice, then composed of magistrates Fidel Marcos Tordoya and Gonzalo Hurtado.[8]
Political activism
Beller gained public exposure through opinion pieces and legal analysis concerning Bolivian politics in national media.[7] In February 2019, she appeared as an analyst on the ATB political program Esta Casa No Es Hotel, alongside political scientist Franklin Pareja and deputy Valeria Silva.[9]
During 2019, Beller publicly supported Evo Morales' candidacy for another presidential term.[7] In September of that year, the Movement for Socialism (MAS-IPSP) registered her as its fifth plurinominal deputy candidate for the Santa Cruz Department in the 2019 Bolivian general election.[10]
The election was subsequently annulled amid the 2019 Bolivian political crisis, and Beller therefore did not take office. Following Morales' resignation, Bolivian media reported on her association with civic leader Luis Fernando Camacho, with whom she appeared publicly during the events that followed the political crisis.[11]
2026 assassination attempt
In August 2026, Beller was shot near a hotel in Santa Cruz de la Sierra. She sustained three gunshot wounds and survived the attack. At the time, she was approximately four weeks pregnant.[12][13]
The attack and subsequent investigation received coverage from Bolivian and international media.[1][2][3][4][14][15] Bolivian authorities investigated the attack as an alleged attempted femicide and detained her former partner, Fernando Cerimedo, in connection with the case.[1][16][17]
