Nadine Hughes Campbell (born August 10, 1987) is a Canadian children's author known for her works Noah’s Cork Adventure and Noah’s Berlin Adventure.[1]
Early life and education[edit]
Nadine Hughes Campbell was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. She completed her early education at Dawson College, earning a Diploma of College Studies (DCS) in Social Science. She then pursued an undergraduate degree in Human Relations at Concordia University, Canada. Furthering her studies, Nadine obtained a Higher Diploma in International Business from Carlow Institute of Technology in Ireland.
Career[edit]
Nadine began her career in the corporate world, holding positions at Expedia Group and TD Canada Trust. However, her passion for storytelling and a desire to celebrate diversity in children's literature led her to become a full-time author. She currently works with Simpl Publishing, where she creates enchanting stories for young readers.
Writing and achievements[edit]
Nadine's debut book, Noah's Cork Adventure, was released in January 2024 and received critical acclaim for its vibrant storytelling and diverse representation.[2][3][4][5] Striving to increase diversity and inclusion in our children's picture books, this book was featured in the 2024 Cork World Book Fest and is set to be showcased at the Kinsale Literary Fest in October 2024.[6] Noah’s Cork Adventure was titled as the first children's book about Cork city as per the Lord Mayor of Cork city. It also earned a longlisting for the CAP Indie Awards. Following the success of her first book, Nadine released Noah’s Berlin Adventure in July 2024, further expanding the magical world of Noah's adventures.[7]
Personal life and inspiration[edit]
A devoted mother, Nadine discovered her passion for storytelling after the birth of her first child. Her bedtime stories soon transformed into published works, as she realized the importance of diverse characters and narratives in children's books. Nadine's stories are a testament to her commitment to fostering curiosity and wonder in young minds.
Heritage and residency[edit]
Though originally from Montreal, Nadine now resides in Cork, Ireland, with her family. Her Jamaican heritage, with both parents being Jamaican immigrants to Canada, significantly influences her writing. She speaks both English and Canadian French.
