Naelah Alshorbaji is a Filipino-Syrian model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Philippines Earth 2021.[2][3] She will represent the Philippines at the Miss Earth 2021 pageant.[4]
Early life and education[edit]
Naelah grew up in Syria surrounded by farm animals. Her fondest memories include going swimming and spending quality time with the Alshorbaji-Almazik clan. She moved to the Philippines at the age of 11, because of the Syrian civil war.[5]
Pageantry[edit]
Miss Philippines Earth 2021[edit]
In 2021, Alshorbaji joined the Miss Philippines Earth 2021 competition. During the question and answer round, Alshorbaji was asked: "You have goals in life and things you want to do. Given the ongoing pandemic with lots of restrictions, how do you plan to move forward?" She responded:[6]
"I believe that despite the restrictions in terms of the pandemic, we have social media to progress and move forward. I think that’s the beauty of the generation that we're going through right now. Moving forward, I think I can accomplish my goals and dreams regardless, because I have a bright future even during the pandemic. I hope that inspires people around us. Thank you."[6]
At the end of the event, she was crowned Miss Philippines Earth 2021 succeeding Roxanne Allison Baeyens.[7]
Miss Earth 2021[edit]
As the winner of Miss Philippines Earth 2021, Alshorbaji will represent the Philippines at the Miss Earth 2021 pageant to be held in December 2021. By the end of the event, Miss Earth 2020 Lindsey Coffey of the United States will crown her successor.
