The Nagamori Foundation was established by Shigenobu Nagamori, chairman and CEO of Nidec in 2014[1][2], as were the Nagamori Awards, which were officially launched in 2015 and are overseen by the foundation.[3] The Nagamori Awards are granted annually to innovative R&D engineers in the field of motors, actuators and power generators.[4]
Every year awards are granted to between 3–5 people, who receive an award of 2 million yen, and one Grand Nagamori Award winner receives 5 million yen.[5]
Apart from the Nagamori Awards, the foundation provides direct financial support for research and researchers that make a significant contribution to the field of science and technology.[6][7]
