Naija[1] is an ethnonym which refers to a large group of closely related Nigerian ethnic groups native to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. As such, Naija is a reference to a mixed ethnolinguistic group with a shared ethnogenesis that speak a multitude of languages.[2][3][4][5][6]
Naija is usually used to address, describe or refer to only the native population of Nigeria. It is different from the demonym Nigerian, which refers to any citizen of Nigeria, regardless of their origin or ethnicity.[7][8]
Etymology
Naija is a word that is simply implied to mean "of the river Niger area" which includes the Niger Delta. It originates from the word "Niger", which itself has a disputed etymology.

Naija has rich and distinctive cuisine which includes nice, tasty meals such as Amala, Eba, Fufu, Pounded Yam, etc, all of which can be enjoyed with enriching Afang soup, Egusi soup, Ewedu Soup, Ogbono soup, etc.[9]
