Nakhane Touré is a South African musician, actor and author. He mostly appears as a solo act. He released his first album Brave Confusion [1] in 2014.

Nakhane starred in critically acclaimed and Oscar short-listed 2017 film The Wound, as a result he received a flood of homophobic comments and death threats.


Early life

Nakhane Touré, born Nakhane Lubabalo Mavuso[2], grew up in Alice, a town in South Africa, in a fundamentalist Christian community. When he was 19, they rejected him after he came out as gay and forced him into conversion therapy.[3]
