Nameer Nawaz Khan is a Pakistani-Canadian actor, host and model.[1] He made his television debut in 2023 and rose to prominence with his intense performance in dramas Mein as Ryan and Qarz-e-Jaan as Ammar.[2][3]
Early life and education
Khan was born and raised in Lahore and holds dual Pakistani‑Canadian citizenship.[1] He later went to Canada and there he studied software engineering.[1][4] He earned a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering from a university in Pakistan before relocating to Canada to pursue a Master's degree in Software Engineering at Concordia University.[1] Prior to acting, he worked professionally as a software engineer in both Pakistan and Canada.[5] He quit his corporate job in May 2021 to enter the entertainment industry.[6]
Career
Khan began his career as a model and also hosted award functions.[1] In 2021, he appeared in Iranian-Canadian composer and guitarist Babak Amini's music video Bekhan Ba Man.[4] In 2022, Khan transitioned into acting made his debut in a short film titled There Are No Children Here.[4] In 2023, he made his television debut with ARY Digital drama Mein (2023), portraying Ryan Jaffar, a supporting role. His performance drew attention for showing early signs of range.[7]
In 2024, he starred in Qarz-e-Jaan on Hum TV, he delivered a breakthrough performance as Ammar Bakhtiyar in the drama, a complex tragic anti-hero.[8] Critics and fans praised his emotional intensity and depth, along with his on-screen chemistry with co-star Yumna Zaidi.[9] His acting in the last episode in particular was appreciated.[10]
In 2025, he starred as Shamraiz Amritsari in ensemble magnum opus drama Main Manto Nahi Hoon on ARY Digital.[11]
In 2026, he starred in a leading role in Aik Aur Pakeezah, a social drama co-produced by Geo Entertainment, the Kash Foundation, and the Government of Canada, which focused on the issue of cybercrime.[12][13][14]
