Narendra Chaudhary (soldier)
Narendra Chaudhary (nicknamed "Steel Man") (Script error: The function "langx" does not exist.; 1968 – 12 May 2016), was an Indian Army bomb defusing expert, who had defused more than 256 bombs in his career.[1][2]
Personal life
Chaudhary belonged to the small village Bader, in the Nagaur district of Rajasthan. He joined the Indian Army at a young age. He remained in the army until he died while defusing a bomb.
Career
In his career, he defused more than 256 bombs, thus saving thousands of lives in Naxal-affected areas, which are heavily mined by Naxalites. He used to walk over 50 km without water or food in the difficult terrain of central India, never got ill in his career, and his friends [who?] used to call him "Steel Man" (સ્ટીલ મેન).
Personality
When asked about Chaudhary's weaknesses, the Jawans said, "He had only one weakness – a cup of tea". Chaudhary was known for putting himself in harm's way while ensuring his team were at a safe distance. He was targeted by Naxalites because of his abilities.
