The Beef Production Research Center Sibi is focused on improving the genetic potential of breeds for beef production through cross breeding with well-known beef cattle breeds of the world. The BPRC Sibi was established in 1969 following a long-term cross breeding program with Droughtmaster cattle breed to develop a native beef breed i.e. Narimaster breed in Pakistan.

The Drought-master cattle was imported into Pakistan for having similar environmental conditions to Queensland, Australia and crossed with the Sibi bhagnari cattle breed, which is the heaviest drought breed of Pakistan and has its home tract in Sibi, Talli, Khajjak, Kachi, Dhadar, Bhag and Naseerabad territories of Pakistan. After the F3 generation, the progeny obtained had 62.5% genetics of Droughtmaster and 37.5% of Bhagnari cattle. This resultant progeny was named “Narimaster”. The baseline strength of 300 animals of this breed was obtained almost two decades ago and is being maintained on the farm at BPRC Sibi, the research carried out by Livestock Development Officer Dr. Mazhar Khan Khajjak.
