Natachai Boonprasert (Thai: ณัฎฐ์ฐชัย บุญประเสริฐ; born 1 October 2000), nicknamed Dunk (ดัง), is a Thai actor under GMMTV.[1] He gained popularity when he played the leading role in Star & Sky: Star In My Mind (2022)[2][3]and a year later, he starred in a full series Hidden Agenda (2023)[4]. His acting career itself started with the screentimes in Bad Buddy (2021).[5]
Early life and education[edit]
Dunk was born on 1 October 2000. He is the eldest child in the family, and has a younger sister. His father was a pilot, and his mother was a flight attendant. Because his father and grandfather were both pilots, Dunk once wanted to be a pilot as his childhood dream career.
Dunk completed his nine-year study at Heathfield International School[6] and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Computer Innovation Engineering from King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) Faculty of Engineering International Programs in 2023[7][8].
When he was still a first-year student, Dunk was a drum major for his university. He revealed in an interview that being a drum major was one way to expose yourself to people, including GMMTV, who reached out to him at the time. Dunk has also been taking part in runway work and modelling since before his debut series aired.
Career[edit]
After making appearances in Bad Buddy, Dunk went together with his on-screen partner Joong Archen for filming Safe House Season 3: Best Bro Secret, while the official trailer for Star and Sky: Star In My Mind was released in the middle of the variety show broadcast.[9] Daonuea was his first character as a lead, and their series has been earning love from viewers since its premiere on March 8, 2022, by winning Best Viu Awards 2022 in the Most Satisfying Series of the Year category and ranking 5th inside the Viu Top 10 Awards 2022: Thailand Series, in addition to over 100 million total views on YouTube.
Fanmeeting in Cambodia 2022 was the first fanmeeting for Dunk and Joong and was held overseas.[10] It was followed by more fanmeetings outside Thailand afterward, like in Japan[11] and Taiwan[12]
In 2023, juggling between study in his senior year and work, Dunk managed to act in the anthology Our Skyy 2 and a 12-episode series Hidden Agenda. He reprised his role from Star and Sky: Star In My Mind the very last time in Our Skyy 2 before "returning Daonuea to the novel".[13][14] For Hidden Agenda, Dunk portrayed a more mature character, Zo.[4] The first episode of Hidden Agenda was televised on 9 July, and it was prior to Dunk Phunkorn's comeback on 13 July which he also played another different character with an angsty plot in the singer's Reverse music video.[15][16]
Dunk has done editorial photography alongside his acting career, and a collaboration of Levi's x Princess Mononoke was one of them he participated in.[17]
Business[edit]
Besides being active in the entertainment industry, Dunk is the founder of a pastry business named Navori and a street-style clothing brand named Vespera.[1]
Philanthropy and campaigns[edit]
In 2023, Dunk was part of the Performance Artist Ambassadors for Special Olympics Thailand. He joined in campaigns as well, such as "Just Say No" (to drugs) for 2022 World Drug Day in Thai society.[18]
