Nathan Sutherland

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Nathan Sutherland is a nurse who is suspected of having raped and impregnated a severely disabled woman under his care at Hacienda HealthCare in Phoenix, Arizona.

Background[edit]

Sutherland was born in Haiti, and is aged 36 as of January 23, 2019. He completed his certified nurse assistant training in 2005 and completed his licensed practical nurse training in 2011.

The woman, a member of the San Carlos Apache tribe, gave birth to a baby boy on December 29, 2018, resulting in national news coverage. Although she was initially reported as comatose or in a vegetative state, her parents said in a statement that although she was disabled "she could respond to sound, make facial gestures and had some ability to move her limbs, head and neck". [1]

Subsequently, the DNA of all male employees at the facility was collected on police orders. When the baby's DNA matched Sutherland's, Sutherland was arrested and charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of vulnerable adult abuse. [2]

The longtime CEO of Hacienda HealthCare resigned on January 7. [2]
