History
The National Boxing Union (NBU) is a global sanctioning body of professional boxing. The NBU can be traced back to the early 2000s in the United States. The NBU was formed by representatives from several American states, to counterbalance the influence that the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) wielded in the boxing world. The organization received acclaim by implementing a computerized system that removed subjective elements from the ratings in an effort to bring more credibility to the sport. Many marquee champions have held the National Boxing Union World title.
Championship Title
The NBU resurrected a Heavyweight title in 2014 formerly known as the World Colored Heavyweight Championship. The title became extinct after Joe Louis won the World Heavyweight title on June 22, 1937. The new version, now called the NBU All International World Heavyweight Championship, is available to boxers of any race or nationality, contrary to its predecessor.

Title match system
In this system, a competitor has to challenge the current NBU champion to win the Title. This form of championship is not only used in boxing, but other combat sports as well.
Playoff system
If a NBU championship is vacated, a playoff system is used to determine a championship winner. Free agent boxers compete in a regular season of varying formats and a limited number of participants qualify for the playoffs. The "NBF" playoff system can be seen as a hybrid between the league system and tournament system, where a league is used to determine qualifiers for the tournament.
