National Democracy Award

The National Democracy Award is the Cabinet Office's highest award to civilians in the United Kingdom for the promotion of democracy.[1] Presented during National Democracy Week, [2] the award seeks to 'recognise the exceptional work of individuals and organisations that work tirelessly to increase democratic engagement in the UK.'[3]

History[edit]

The first National Democracy (Week) Awards were held in July 2018 to mark the 90th anniversary of the 1928 Equal Franchise Act, which gave women equal voting rights.[4][3][5][6][7][8]
