National Safety Day is celebrated on 4th March in India. It is a National level Safety awareness campaign run by National Safety Council of India. The purpose of celebration is to share awareness related to workplace safety and Health among the industrial workers. National Safety council was found on 4th march 1966[1] and the foundation day of National Safety council is celebrated as a National Safety Day from 1971[2]. To spread awareness about the Occupational Health and safety among the workers from 4th March to 10th March National Safety week is celebrated by all industries, government departments, Unions, NGO, Institutions and regulatory agencies across the india.
This entire campaign is supported by Government of India at National level. State chapters of National safety council are actively following up and involving the state Government and District administration in the campaign.
Objective of National Safety Day[edit]
- The prime objective of National Safety Day/Week celebration is reduce industrial accidents in india by spreading safety awareness among the workers.
- To spread movement of Environment, Safety,Health to different part of country
- Built a Positive Safety culture in workplace
