National Socialist Club
The National Socialist Club (NSC), or NSC-131 is a growing, New England neo-Nazi, white nationalist, and anti-Semitic hate group.[1][2] They self-style themselves as national socialists and anti-communist, as evidenced by the "131" in their name, which is an alphanumeric code for "ACA" or "Anti-Communist Action". They claim to be based specifically in the New England region, i.e., New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, Vermont and Connecticut.
Founding and History
Originally founded as the "New England Nationalist Club" in December of 2019, the group was started by only a handful of neo-Nazis in Eastern Massachusetts, led by Chris Hood.[1] Originally, the group had a chapter in the South, referred to as "NSC-Dixie" which was formed when the now-defunct Legion of Saint Ambrose fell apart and members of said group flocked to the NSC. A chapter in the Southwest and the Midwest also formed.[1]
Sometime in 2020, NSC's chapters outside of New England were disbanded and the group renamed the "National Socialist Club".
Tactics and Activities
NSC-131 operates like a gang; they are territorial, both in regards to solely operating within their states and in certain territory. They routinely block out any graffiti or symbols and insignia of "rival gangs," such as ones predominantly comprised of racial minorities.[3]
The organization's tactics are entirely comprised of spray painting and stenciling messages or slogans and logos on walls and buildings, unfurling banners from highway bridges and putting up stickers, all of which is then posted on social media, such as telegram, as propaganda videos and images. This is all similar to the tactics employed by another image-obsessed, propaganda-oriented white nationalist group: Patriot Front.
Members of NSC also attended the US Capital Riot along with members of other far-right groups such as the Proud Boys and Super Happy Fun America, along with numerous other smaller groups.[4] Members of this group have also been known to utilize the common right-hand salute, and the OK sign along with utilizing other openly Nazi gestures.
