National handwriting day

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

National Handwriting Day — celebrated in the United States every year on January 23rd since 1977.[1]

The date was chosen as it is the birthday of John Hancock, who was the first person to sign the United States Declaration of Independence.[2]

The celebration was established by the Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association (WIMA), formerly the Fountain Pen and Mechanical Pencil Manufacturers Association, in 1977 with the aim to promote the use of pens, pencils, and writing paper.[2]
