Nats Getty (born Natalia Williams; November 30, 1992), is an American model, socialite, designer, artist and LGBTQ rights activist.

Early life and family[edit]

Getty was born in Los Angeles[3] to Ariadne Getty[4] and Justin Williams.[4] She is a member of the Getty family and uses her mother's surname professionally.[5] Getty is the grandchild of Sir John Paul Getty. Her maternal great-grandmother was actress Ann Rork Light and her maternal great-grandfather, Jean Paul Getty, was the founder of Getty Oil.[6] Her brother is the fashion designer August Getty. Getty spent her early childhood in Santa Monica, California and attended school at The Willows Community School before moving to England with her family when she was eight years old.[3][5] While living in England, she attended a boarding school in Oxford.[5] Raised in the Catholic faith, Getty is the godchild of Gavin Newsom.[7]

Career[edit]

Getty has worked alongside her mother and brother to provide new infrastructures for the Los Angeles LGBT Center and works closely with GLAAD.[when?][3][8] She has her own clothing and lifestyle brand Strike Oil.[3][9][10] The name is a play on her family's oil business.[11]

In 2014, Getty directed and acted in the short film Smoking Solitary.[12] On July 24, 2017, Getty was interviewed on the podcast series Shane and Friends.[13] Getty painted a mural in honor of the 49 victims of the 2017 Orlando nightclub shooting, having it displayed in front of Pulse nightclub.[11] Getty, who is signed with Next Management, modeled for her brother's fashion line, August Getty Atelier, and worked as her muse.[11][14][15][16]

Getty is an advisor for the Ariadne Getty Foundation, started by her mother.[17]

Personal life[edit]

Getty began dating Canadian socialite and YouTuber Gigi Gorgeous in 2016[18] after spending some time together in Paris during fashion week for the debut of August Getty's collection, where the two were working as models. In November 2017, the couple caused controversy when she jokingly announced on Instagram that she had adopted a child via surrogate, but later confirmed that the infant was a friend's child.[16]

Getty proposed to Lazzarato in March 2018 at the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte in France.[11][19][20][21] The couple shared their engagement in a video posted to Lazzarato's YouTube channel.[11][22][23] The couple married in July 2019 in a private ceremony at Rosewood Miramar Beach in Montecito, California.[24][7]

In January 2021, Getty came out as transgender non-binary via Instagram, sharing that she had started her transition by undergoing top surgery.[25] Getty has stated that they are "still on [their] journey of figuring out what pronouns work for [them]" but, for the time being, is not insulted by being referred to as she/her.[26]
