Nature Positive

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Nature Positive refers to outcomes which are net positive for biodiversity, directly and measurably increasing the health, abundance, diversity and resilience of species, ecosystems and processes.[1][2][3][4]

The term was developed in 2020 to address the need for a global goal to drive action across society on nature[5], similar to the net-zero emissions goal that already existed for climate. For biodiversity, the global goal is to reverse biodiversity loss by 2030; expressed as nature positive by 2030[6]. The ambition level was included in the G7 2030 Nature Compact and ratified in IUCN World Conservation Congress Resolution 116, before being codified in the mission[7] of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, adopted by the 196 countries party to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity in December 2022.
