Navidul Huq (born 27th May, 1983) is a Bangladeshi industrialist, tech entrepreneur and a director of Mohammadi Group.[1] He is Managing Director of Desh Energy Limited which is a power generation company tied to the national grid of the Bangladesh Government.[2] Huq also co-founded Bangladesh’s largest OTT-Video streaming company BongoBD with his childhood friend Ahad Bhai[3][4] Navidul Huq became an elected director of BGMEA.[5][6][7] in 2021 and a Vice-President at Bangladesh Independent Power Producers Association, BIPPA.[8]

In the beginning of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, Navidul Huq came forward as a philanthropist coordinator of BGMEA in order to manufacture and supply PPEs and masks free of cost to assist doctors & other frontline fighters in Bangladesh.[9][10][11]

Early Life

Navidul Huq was born on 27th May 1983 in Dhaka, to Annisul Huq, Chairman of Mohammadi Group & former mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation[12][13][14][15] & Rubana Huq, Managing Director of Mohammadi Group & former President of BGMEA.[16][17][18] He is the eldest son of his family. He has three siblings, Wamiq Umaira Huq, Tanisha Fariamaan Huq and Sharaf Huq. His grandfather's ancestral home is Goshbag(Miabari), Kabirhat, Noakhali. His paternal uncle is General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq, who is an ex-chief of the Bangladesh Army.

Education

Navidul Huq graduated High School from the American International School, Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2002. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Management from Bentley University, Waltham, USA in 2006.

Career

In 2006, Navidul Huq started his career under the leadership of his father, Annisul Huq to manage the different companies of Mohammadi Group.[19] In 2006, he began serving as a Director of Technovista.com. In 2007, Navidul Huq co-founded and became a Director of Bordingvista.com a joint venture with Danish Company Bording Group of Denmark. In 2013, Navidul Huq Co-Founded Bangladesh’s first online video streaming service, BongoBD, bongobd.com.[20] [21][22] Navidul Huq has been serving as the Managing Director of Desh Energy Limited since 2014.[23] He is currently Vice-President of Bangladesh Independent Power Producer Association (BIPPA).[24] During 2013-2014 he served as a director of Bangladesh Association of Software & Information Services (BASIS). For the period of 2021-2023, Navidul Huq will be serving as a Director on the board of the Bangladesh Garments Manufacturing and Export Association (BGMEA).[25][26]

Personal Life

Navidul Huq is married to Nabila Sajjad since 2013, and has a son, Ehaanul Huq.[27]
