Im Na-yeon (born September 22, 1995), better known mononymously as Nayeon, is a South Korean singer. She is best known as the lead vocalist of the South Korean girl group Twice established by JYP Entertainment through the 2015 reality show Sixteen
Early life[edit]
Im Na-yeon was born in Seoul, South Korea on September 22, 1995. She is the oldest child in the family having a younger sister as a sibling.[citation needed]
Education[edit]
Im Na-yeon graduated from Apgujeong high school before she put off her university studies on hold to become a trainee. She is now attending Konkuk University and majoring in film studies while being an active member of Twice[1]
Career[edit]
2010–2015: Trainee years[edit]
When Nayeon was young she entered a child model contest which eventually led to her being casted by JYP Entertainment.[citation needed] In 2010, when she was about to go to a cram school to study for university entrance exams, she sneaked out of her house to try out for an open audition hosted by JYP, which she passed.[citation needed] She trained for around five years before she was chosen to debut in JYP's 6mix but the group never quite got out of the planning stage.[citation needed]
2015–present: Twice[edit]
In 2015, JYP Entertainment hosted a reality TV show, Sixteen,[2] which determined the members of their new girl group Twice. Nayeon finished in sixth place, and was the first member to be confirmed for the new girl group.

Although a rising star, she has made an appearances in numerous music video, cameos in dramas, and commercials with famous industry stars and groups such as Miss A, Highlight otherwise known as BEAST, and Got7.
