nazwa.pl Sp. z o.o. is a Polish domain registrar and a hosting company. Since 1997, over 1 million customers have used nazwa.pl services, registering over 4 million domains, running over 500 thousand hosting services and activating over 600 thousand SSL certificates.

History[edit]

The nazwa.pl was founded in 1997 by Piotr Nowak. At first, the company operated under the NetArt brand, but the owner decided to change the company's name in 2002. However, the NetArt brand has been used to this day by a subsidiary - NetArt Registrar sp. z o.o. - the only registrar in Poland with an agreement with ICANN.[1]  to register global domains.

Currently, nazwa.pl sp. z o.o. together with all its subsidiaries employs over 350 people and is one of the largest employers in the IT industry.

Technological leader[edit]

Nazwa.pl is the Polish technological leader in the field of security, servicing over 90% of domains protected against cybercriminals by means of DNSSEC[2]. The share of nazwa.pl in the number of Polish websites secured with SSL certificates exceeds 60%[3].

The company is also a leader[peacock prose] in providing new technologies improving hosting services, popularizing DNS Anycast technology on the Polish market, a new HTTP/2 protocol accelerating data transmission from the web pages, and providing SSL DV certificates required to operate HTTP/2 protocol for over 600,000 websites. Nazwa.pl is also a pioneer[peacock prose] in the implementation of the safest version of TLS 1.3, which encrypts data between the server and the browser.

Nazwa.pl secures over 600 thousand serviced domains with the help of DNS Anycast technology, which provides geo redundancy and protection against DDoS[4] attacks. The company employs enhanced DDoS protection that uses special infrastructure whose task is to analyse IP traffic and detect threats, as well as filter out traffic that may adversely affect the operation of web portals or DNS servers. This protection is implemented using specialized network devices from Fortinet, operating in a high availability cluster, which enable protection against volumetric attacks at full speed of 150 Gbps of all nazwa.pl links.

Market successes[edit]

The nazwa.pl is the largest registrar of Polish domains, with over 30% share in new registrations. The company also supports the largest number of domains and customers, and its market share is about 23%[5]

Nazwa.pl is ranked first in the biggest ranking of hosting service providers - top100.wht.pl[6], which examines the number of domains supported on DNS servers. This ranking examines over 2.5 million Polish domains registered by NASK, European .eu domains and global domains .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info.
