NeWDS: Eat Safer
NeWDS Eat Safer Pty Ltd is an Australian food production company that produces ready-made food sourced and produced without the top 9 most common food allergens. The company derives its acronym from food allergens that are not contained in the meals it produces: nuts (peanut & tree nuts), egg, wheat (gluten), dairy, sesame, soy, fish and shellfish.
NeWDS was founded by Professor Pete Smith and Dr Anuj Gupta in 2019 with an objective to create safe foods for patients with food allergies. People with food allergies can find their lives strongly affected by their condition, which can restrict social outings and impact their quality of life.[1] Prior to NeWDS, commercial meals have been created to consider one or two major allergens, but NeWDS is the first producer to create meals without the top 9 allergens in a pre-prepared meal solution.
NeWDS meals are created with the help of a leading chef, dieticians and a food scientist. All stages of food production are subjected to scrutiny and none of the major allergens are allowed in the facility to ensure minimal risk of cross-contamination with storage, preparation, cooking or packaging[2]
