Nea Salamis Famagusta

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Nea Salamis Famagusta is a Cypriot football club was founded on 7 March 1948 in Famagusta, and its name was derived from the ancient city of Salamis.[1]

Following the Turkish invasion in 1974 and the displacement from Famagusta, the club continued its activities in Larnaca, where the “Ammochostos – Epistrofi” stadium is located, while it can no longer use the GSE stadium in Famagusta.[1][2]

The football section’s greatest achievements are winning the Cyprus Cup and the Super Cup in 1990, while its best position in the Cypriot championship was third place.[1]

Nea Salamis has football and volleyball sections, a modern training centre and an academy with more than 450 young athletes, while also developing social, sporting and cultural activities.[2]

Nea Salamis particularly emphasizes its connection with Famagusta, condemns the second phase of the Turkish invasion in 1974, and states that it will continue to preserve the memory of the city and advocate for its return to its lawful residents.[3]
