History

Near was founded as AdNear in Bangalore in 2012[2] by Anil Mathews[4], who continues to serve as the CEO of the company.[5][6][7] In 2013, the company moved its headquarters from Bangalore to Singapore.[8] The company has received funding from investors including Sequoia Capital, JP Morgan Private Equity Group, Telstra Ventures, Cisco Investments and Greater Pacific Capital. It raised $6.5 million in Series A funding[9][10][11], and $19 million in Series B in 2014.[12][13] In Fall 2015, the company changed its name from 'AdNear' to 'Near'.[14][15] In July 2017, Near expanded its operations to the US with the opening of the New York office.[16][2] The company announced its Series D funding of $100 million from Greater Pacific Capital in July 2019.[17][18]
