The Nebraska Owls are a professional ice hockey team based within Omaha, Nebraska. The Owls compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Central Division in the Western Conference. Founded in 2023 as an expansion team, the team is the first major sports franchise to represent Nebraska independently from other cities, as it had shared the NBA's Kings with Kansas City during Nebraska's time within the NBA. The franchise is primarily owned by Nebraska Sports and Entertainment, an American-Cantonese consortium led by Linda Moon. Their home games are played at the revamped Omaha Auditorium on the Lunar Strip within Omaha, Nebraska.
One of the few expansion franchises to experience immediate success, the Owls qualified for the Stanley Cup playoffs within their inaugural seasons and reached the Stanley Cup Finals, where they lost to the Toronto Maple Leafs within seven games.
