Neil Frans Roets
Neil Frans Roets (born December 21, 1977) is a South African attorney, serial entrepreneur, conveyancer, notary, and registered debt counselor. He is the founder and CEO of Debt Rescue, a South African debt counseling.[1][better source needed]
He has done public speaking at South Africa's National Debt Collection Conferences, and has been on the panel at Trade Conferences International.
Early life and education
He graduated with an LLB Degree from North-West University in 2002, formerly Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education and in 2004 was admitted as an attorney, conveyancer, and in 2005 as a notary of the Supreme Court of South Africa. His interest in banking law was sparked by his first professional appointment during articles at Straus Daly Attorneys Inc where he gained a thorough grounding in commercial law and credit agreements.
Career
Currently, Roets is recognized by his firm Debt Rescue which ranked in the top 5 under the category of National Debt Counseling Firms of South Africa in 2018.[2][3]
Roets firmly believes that budgeting has the power to secure South Africans financially.[4] His work emphasizes debt counseling to avoid money stressors and the potential it has to minimize financial predicaments.[5][6][7] Debt Rescue has helped thousands of clients with financial problems.
Roets held the position of attorney of the Supreme Court and conveyancer in 2004. In 2005, he became a public notary. He went on to co-found Erasmus Roets Attorneys in Northern Cape, in 2006, specializing in conveyance and sequestrations. In 2008, Roets passed the UK Qualified Lawyers Transfer Examination becoming a Qualified Solicitor of England and Wales.
Since 2017, he has been a donor for Mission Without Borders. The same year, Roets won the Award for Significant Contribution to the Debt Counseling Industry at the Annual Debt Review Awards.
In 2018, he received the award for the best CEO in his Category by CEO Today Africa.[8]
In 2020, he founded Debt Rescue Foundation, a non-profit organization assisting people in South Africa in respect of various forms of financial need.
He has also founded several other companies, including Rescue Auctioneers, Mr. Video Witfield, Erasmus Roets Attorneys, Bondstel, Probonds.
Roets is a member of the Credit Industry Forum.

Roets spoke to journalist and political commentator, Stephen Grootes as an industry expert in consumer debt. He stated the repercussions of reversing payments to creditors on his 702's podcast interview.[9] He appeared as a guest on The Aubrey Masango Show to discuss the plights of South Africans on personal and consumer debt surpassing trillions.[10] In a CapeTalk show with Clement Manyathela, Roets talked about humane legislation under the National Credit Act protecting South Africans.[11]
On November 24, at Jacaranda FM News interviews, Roets spoke of Black Friday sales and its massive toll on pockets.[12] He discussed the future of savings on Novus Group, a credible news monitoring platform.[13] In a radio show "Voice of Cape", Roets elaborated on the implications of recessions in the coming years.[14] He believes the hike in prices is the culprit behind poverty.[15]

In a daily newspaper, in December 2019, Roets highlighted the powerlessness and the inkling of hope for the debt industry, in dismantling the gloomy cloud of debt, looming over 2020 for South Africans.[16] In City Press, he asserted that the beginning of the year is a challenging time for the companies tackling debts in the wake of the crumbling economy of South Africa.[17] In a Sunday Times publication, in December 2019, Roets was featured expressing his stance on the deteriorating economy and purging effect of debt on South African masses.[18]
