Sumo Wrestling and TV Appearances[edit]

In 2009 Scott was approached by Steve Pateman, president of the British Sumo Federation, who encouraged him to compete in local Sumo Wrestling contests in Derby. Steve supported and encouraged Scott to compete until he became the UK Sumo Wrestling Champion in 2010. Scott supported UK Sumo Wrestling to raise the profile of the sport, appearing with Pateman in various articles.[2]

Later that year, on October 22nd 2010 Scott appeared on the Sky TV show A League of Their Own, presented by James Corden, where he challenged celebrity presenters John Bishop and Andrew Flintoff to a Sumo-style wrestle during a quiz section of the show called the Right Guard Challenge; where members of each team have to answer questions for as long as the third team member can sustain a physical challenge in the studio. After his appearance on the TV show, he was given the affectionate nickname of 'TONS' (TV's Own Neil Scott).[3]

Following on from his television debut, in 2012, Scott also made an appearance on the UK TV show, A Question of Sport: Olympic Special (Series 4, episode 34 of 36) where he wrestled former England cricketer Phil Tuffnell and England Rugby player Matt Dawson.

On Sunday October 29th 2017 Scott competed in the British Sumo Wrestling Open Weight Category at Derby Arena finishing in 3rd place. This coincided with a team competition between English and Welsh representatives including Wynne Evans, GoCompare.com Opera Singer. Scott lost his bout against his Welsh counterpart with the England team going on to win the contest 2:1.[4]

The song was released on 12 April 2015 for digital download in the United Kingdom. It peaked at number 11 on the UK Singles Chart.[5] He went on to feature in another music video in 2016, Bang the Drum by Producer, Remixer and DJ, Hervé from the album Hallucinated Surf. [6]

Personal Life[edit]

In his spare time Scott enjoys being an active member of the Derby Shakespeare Theatre company.[7] He was part of the award winning Minack Theatre production in 2011 of Much Ado about Nothing. In February 2017 he directed the sellout production of 'Allo 'Allo! at Derby's Guildhall Theatre. It was this performance that earned him the coveted 'Eagle Award' for Best Newcomer 2017. [8]

Scott is an avid rugby fan and was interviewed in September 2015 by The Independent newspaper in Twickenham after England's defeat to Wales, where he vowed to burn his England shirt and support Ireland should England lose to Australia![9]
