Nellie Sciutto is an American host and commentator, actress, author, and news contributor. She is also the sister of CNN's Jim Sciutto[1]. She is married to[2] Christopher Reeg since 2001 and the couple have one son.

Career[edit]

Before focusing fully and exclusively on acting, Sciutto was a fashion model signed with Elite Model Management, a subsidiary of John Casablancas' New York agency which represented diminutive models, primarily for shoe and lingerie ads.

Sciutto has appeared in many series of television comedies and dramas throughout the 1990s and continues to make films and hosts a variety of different television spots, ranging from spotlighting unique local businesses and projects on "Dallas Fresh", a CBS-TV production local to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area on KTVT-11 to interviewing celebrity chefs in Oscar-parties in LA, such as Wolfgang Puck's Governor's Ball associated with The Academy Awards/Oscars "behind the scenes" interviews during the actual award ceremonies, since 2018. A recurring role on The Bold & The Beautiful, and guest appearances on shows such as Murphy Brown, Suddenly Susan, Men Behaving Badly and Just Shoot Me! eventually led to more serious roles on CSI, JAG, Entourage and Law & Order. She also eventually caught the eye of Martin Scorsese and appeared in four films which he directed; The Aviator, The Departed, The Wolf of Wall Street, and most memorable as Nurse Marino in Shutter Island. Several independent films such as Apocalypse Road and Cherokee Creek continue to push on toward cult status among indie film aficionados. In 2015 she starred opposite Terry Kiser as his wife in the thriller The Body Sculptor. She has also appeared in "Murder Made Me Famous[3]" as the mother of the infamous Boston Strangler in a flashback sequence, and also in "Scandal Made Me Famous[4]", both being documentary shows produced by the Reelz Channel[5], now owned by Peacock/NBC.

Maintaining dual residences between Los Angeles, CA and Dallas, Texas, Sciutto has also been the featured host of the Dallas Fresh series that airs on CBS-11/KTVT, a featured reporter for WFAA, and was a recurring guest in Season 3 of The Real Housewives of Dallas. She often appears on both LA and Dallas news segments and regularly appeared on Today With Kandace |Today With Kandace in DFW. In 2018 she teamed up with Dallasite Martha Jackson and the two formed the very popular podcast The Bubble Lounge. Nellie is often part of the "Fashion Police" in print by US Weekly Magazine.Sciutto, Nellie (August 9, 2021). "FASHONPO: Santa Monica, Calif, July 8". Fashion & Entertainment. US Weekly. No. 32. Over the years Nellie has found herself both ON the red carpet as an actor and entertainer, but also a member of the Hollywood elite, as a patron and supporter for other's causes, such as with the fundraising fiesta[6] for the Farrah Fawcett Foundation in November 2022, and many others. She is also outspoken on causes near & dear to her heart both as a mother and an entertainer, as reported on by ABC News[7] as early as 2006, in an article highlighting the effects of stardom and fashion on the young.

Sciutto is a seasoned traveler and speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese. She grew up in NYC and studied at The Actors Studio as well as with Ivana Chubbuck. It was Chubbuck that encouraged Sciutto to write and she ended up writing for Chelsea Handler for Girls Behaving Badly. Also interested in fashion and style, Sciutto has hosted shows the E! Entertainment Network, HGTV and more featuring stars on the red carpet to home redecoration.

In 2020, Telecolon picked up the sponsorship for Coffee Talk; an internet gossip show featuring banter between Sciutto and casting director Jill Bandemer[8]. The show has been highlighted during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic and the two discuss how the pandemic has affected Hollywood life and other entertainment values.

In 2021, Nellie published her first book "50 Moments: Faking It, Taking It, and Making It as a Working Actor in Hollywood". The book highlights many comedic and some serious moments documenting her career in Hollywood and some behind the scenes stories applied to daily life experiences as well. The book is also reflected in a series of corresponding podcasts, both in video and audio form for the first several stories, with more episodes planned for release soon. She has been interviewed by multiple outlets for information on the stories behind the book.

In other literature, she is thanked by her brother, CNN News Anchor and political author Jim Sciutto in his book, "Against Us: The New Face of America's Enemies in the Muslim World"[9] as an editor in proofing the manuscript.
