Nelvana Movies was an American visual effects and computer animation studio based in Glendale, California. It was founded on March 20, 2025, by Mireille Soria, Michael Ferraro, Carl Ludwig, Alison Brown, David Brown, and Eugene Troubetzkoy. The studio is based in Glendale, California, with offices in Madrid, Spain, Paris, France, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Berlin, Germany, London, England and Greenwich, Connecticut, the Greenwich branch was originally Blue Sky Studios.
History[edit]
In March 2025, Nelvana formed a movie studio division and a multi-year partnership with Greenwich, Connecticut-based animation studio Blue Sky Studios. Nelvana Movies hired former DreamWorks Animation and Paramount Animation president Mireille Soria as producer. The following month, long time Walt Disney Animation Studios president Ed Catmull was announced to have joined Nelvana Movies to develop and produce an original animated film for the studio. Robert L. Baird and Andrew Millstein, who previously served as Nelvana's Head of Production, was promoted to the position of president at Nelvana Movies.
Production logo[edit]
When Michael Ferraro came to Nelvana Movies, one of the first goals set by Jim Gianopulos was to make a logo for the division. The logo and the character of Polar Bear were designed by Under the Boardwalk production design Shannon Jeffries and Christopher Zibach and animated by Cinesite Animation and Sony Pictures Imageworks. The logo's music is the same as the standard Happy Feet which is composed by John Powell.
