NeoVentures Biotechnology, Inc is a Canadian biotechnology company that specializes in the production of commercial aptamers and is based in London, Ontario. NeoVentures produces custom aptamers for diagnostic and therapeutic health care applications. They were founded in 2002 by Ximena Vedoya and Dr. Gregory Penner.[1].
NeoVentures has developed two patented aptamer selection methods: FRELEX[2] and Neomers. FRELEX is a system that allows for aptamer selection against bodily fluids without pre-existing knowledge of the target,[2] and has been used in applications including neuroscience[3] Neomers was announced on April 4, 2022 at the virtual Aptamers 2022 Conference, hosted in Oxford, UK[4]
In 2009, NeoVentures was the first company to develop an aptamer-based diagnostic for mycotoxins.[5]
In 2015, NeoVentures founded a secondary company, NeoNeuro, to specialize in Alzheimer's disease research. Since then, they have developed the Aptamarker Platform for AD diagnosis,[6] and have begun a pilot project with funding granted at the Building Tomorrow Together: Innovation in Dementia conference hosted by Roche, held in Portugal from April 29-30, 2022.[7]
