Nepal Lok Star is Nepal's first mega-budgeted organic reality TV event that operates without an international franchise. The show was founded to meet the demands of the existing folk-loving audience and present the folk genre in a way that is striking to the global audience.
About show
As global TV networks become more accessible, TV audiences become more aware. They start demanding more in terms of quality and content from their TV shows. Nepali TV shows have so far failed to realize this, and hence the core audience is being driven to foreign networks to meet their needs. Nepal Lok Star is an organic solution envisioned to address this problem.
Nepal Lok Star is Nepal's first mega-budgeted organic reality TV event that operates without an international franchise. The show was founded to meet the demands of the existing folk-loving audience and present the folk genre in a way that is striking to the global audience. All formats and parameters have been set through intense research and collaboration with other franchise reality shows so as to make Nepal Lok Star a unique and desirable platform. The show shall see Nepal's own folk genre presented with production value like never before.
Hosts
As per the format, there is at least one or two hosts, both of them being of the same gender or opposite genders.
Judges
A preselected panel of music industry representatives are given to judge the contestants in the prejudge round, which is not televised. An actual panel of judges of four judge the contestants from the Televised Audition to the Grand Finale. Although the judges judge the show till the finale, viewers are given equal right to vote for their favorite contestant. The winner is always chosen from the voting. IME PAY has the rights to conduct the voting.
Performance stages
- Auditions are held digitally, where interested applicants send videos to WhatsApp/Viber or apply from the Himalaya Television mobile application or website.
- After the digital audition, whoever gets selected will be called for the physical audition, which is generally held at the Himalaya Television studio.
Season 1
In Season one, which was originally broadcasted from AP1 television, Jayananda Lama, BB Anuragee, Ramji Khand and Sunita Dulal were the judges who judged the show from start to finish.
Season 2
Nepal Lok Star Season 2 will be broadcasted from the Himalaya Television. Nepal Lok Star Season 2 will be judged by a new panel, as per Himalaya television and news published on Online Khabar news; the judges for season 2 are Ramji Khand (who was in season 1 also), Kumar Basnet, Kulendra Bishowkarma and Jyoti Magar.
