Kenny Ray Fuller JR, known as Nephew KEN (born August 19, 1988)[2], is an American public figure, rapper, producer, [3]songwriter[4] and entrepreneur[5]. He has worked with artists such as Slim 400, TayF3rd and DW Flame[6], on beats that he produced and featured them on. Known as the independent artist, Nephew Ken runs a production company known as the Burries Bros. [7]

Ken's family referred to his father as Uncle Kenny, thus he began calling himself Nephew Kenny, which he later abbreviated as Nephew KEN. Being from Long Beach, and having grown up listening to Snoop’s music, it inspired Ken as well, and his name is a good way of giving honor to both of them. [8] Born in Long Beach and raised in Lancaster, CA, Nephew Ken moved to Nevada in 2008. Inspired by his mother and 90s music, [9] he officially started his music career in 2018[10]; however, he had been doing music all his life since he was only 5.

As for most people, the road to the music industry was not easy for Nephew Ken. His mother’s death was one of the most significant setbacks in his life. Despite facing difficulties, he continued his struggle to become the best hip-hop star.[11] The rise of "the birth of a nephew," his first official project comprehending all his music styles, gives him a boost in the industry. Writing his music evolved him into a writer and producer, though he collaborated with HugerForceBeats[12], LogyBeats[13], and Jay Millian [14] in 2020. The secret to his creative style is writing on his own, staying true to oneself, and not copying others. It takes as much as a month to complete a track. It all starts with writing down the idea and then revolving around it to get specific points and details. Usually working on his own in his studio, he then records the songs and works around that project.

The creativity in the music comes from his personal experiences, situations, books, WestCoast, and 90s music. Nephew Ken does not stop learning and continues to grow as he loves to inspire others with his music. He gives people the opportunity to like, share and enjoy the originality rather than following current trends. Social media presence allows Nephew Ken to share his work freely with a large audience, and he takes time to network on social media. It helps Nephew Ken connect with other music artists and allows people and brands to reach him for work and collaboration. Nephew Ken is on all famous social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. You can listen to his music on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, Tidal, and all other streaming platforms by Searching “Nephew KEN”.

Nephew Ken is not only a music star; he loves modeling, videography, art, and a little photography. The motivation that brings out the best of him comes from himself and his kids. Other than his parents, Nephew Ken considered Nipsey Hussle, Will Smith, and Kobe Bryant as his mentors. He wants to headline at Staple Center as it has been the place where he spends most of his time as a kid.

KEN uses his music and status to bring awareness to the problems within urban communities. He plans to release a project called "Black Love, Brown Pride" with the goal to bring the two cultures together, due to hate crimes and attacks on street vendors. Nephew KEN also hired and created opportunities for Asian models as his contributions towards the "Stop Asian Hate" movement.[15]

Early Life

Kenny Ray Fuller JR was born on August 19, 1988, in Long Beach, California.[16] He lived in Long Beach for the first 8 years of his life and then moved to Lancaster, CA. [17] Fuller's father was doing a prison sentence in Lancaster, and so his mother moved him and his siblings to be closer. His father’s troubles helped change his environment. [18] He spent a lot of time in Long Beach during school vacation breaks and weekends, so he grew up with a balanced childhood. His mother inspired him musically by showing and teaching him music early on.

The early environment of his life brings a musician out of Nephew Ken, and in 2018 it is proved when he launched his album "The Birth of Nephew".

Artistry

Influences

Ken admired Nipsey Hussle. He didn't know him personally, but he watched his career and applied his ideas and lessons as if he were his personal mentor. 2pac, Will Smith, Kobe Bryant, Rick Ross, and Master P, to mention a few, are examples of this. Authors and their works serve as mentors for him as well. His mother, father, and cousin were all lifelong mentors to him, and they all influenced who he is now.

Musical Style

Ken is a fan of all musical genres, primarily for the sake of producing. His favorite genre, though, is hip hop/rap. Ken derives inspiration for new music from his personal experiences, WestCoast or 90s music, and circumstances from which others might learn. His musical style is a fusion of WestCoast music and storytelling.[31]
