Nerella police torture incident took place in July 2017 where eight people belonging to the village Nerella were brutally tortured by police. The eight people were picked up by police after they protested against a truck laden with sand injured a villager.

Police arrests and torture[edit]
Police arrested the eight victims and took them to a nearby college. Their hands were pulled through a window and few police started beating them on their backs with belts. In addition they were given electric shocks. Siricilla superintendent of police Vishwajith Kampati later came to the spot and is accused of beating, abusing and threatening of the victims.
