Nevada Week is an American weekly public affairs television program produced and distributed by Vegas PBS. The program covers a variety of topics that impact the state of Nevada. Since 2022, Nevada Week has been hosted by Amber Renee Dixon.[1].
History
Nevada Week’s predecessor was the long-running Nevada Week In Review, a weekly public affairs show that premiered in 1981. After a period of difficulty replacing longtime host Mitch Fox starting in 2014, the show went into hiatus[2]. In 2018, the program was revived and the title was shortened to Nevada Week[3]
Production and format
Each episode of Nevada Week covers a topic that typically coincides with a news story relevant to either the state of Nevada or the United States. Topics have included education, the gaming industry, health care, human trafficking, land conservation, mining, the Nevada state legislature, and policing. Beginning with the fifth season, an additional reporter would provide coverage alongside the regular roundtable discussion.
New episodes are produced on a weekly basis. A roundtable discussion with anywhere from two to five guests is recorded at the Vegas PBS studio in Paradise, NV[4]. Other segments, such as interviews with community leaders or local legislators, are either taped on-location or via video conference.
