Nevercode is a cloud-based Continuous integration and Continuous delivery (CI/CD) service for iOS, Android, React Native, Flutter, Ionic, Cordova

Nevercode enables developers to build, test and deploy native and Cross-platform mobile applications automatically without any human interaction or configuration headache. Setting up a new project is easy thanks to automatic configuration. Nevercode builds the projects for every commit and runs all the unit & UI tests. Automatic build distribution keeps the team and the clients updated with the latest state of apps.

Background[edit]

Before the launch of Nevercode, the team was developing mobile applications for companies such as Skype and Microsoft. Driven by the increasing need to develop high-quality apps faster, their mobile app development team was struggling with ineffectiveness caused by manual work that could have been automated. Having tested several CI/CD services on the market, they did not find a suitable one. The team then decided to create their own continuous integration and delivery solution that would speed up development by automating the key steps. This eventually gave birth to Nevercode[1], a CI/CD service tailored to mobile applications.
The name of the company reflects on their mission to eliminate grunt manual work from the development process and is encapsulated in the company’s slogan: “Never code what you can automate[2].”
Today, Nevercode is among the top mobile CI/CD services[3] on the market with clients from 40 countries all over the world. Some of their biggest clients include Toyota, BMW, Channel 4 and SurveyMonkey.

Configuration[edit]

Nevercode offers automatic project configuration and does not rely on manual configuration YAML files as some other CI services. When adding a new project, Nevercode scans the repository, detects the project and configures it automatically. Further specifications, like choosing the branches for building or setting up different workflows/pipelines, can be made solely via the user interface. As a web service, Nevercode is fully responsible for updating the builders and maintaining the CI infrastructure.

Integrations[edit]

In contrast to some open source tools, such as Jenkins, Nevercode does not require additional plugins. Instead, it comes with built-in integrations for popular tools and frameworks used in mobile application development:

Platforms: Android, iOS, Ionic Framework, Cordova, React Native, Flutter
Version Control: All Git repositories (also Github, Bitbucket, Gitlab)
Testing: AWS Device Cloud, Firebase Test Lab
Test Frameworks: KIF testing framework, Espresso, Robotium, Robolectric, Appium (written in Java, PHP, Python)
Distribution: iTunes Connect, TestFlight, HockeyApp, Crashlytics, Google, Relution
Notification: Slack, email

Notable Features[edit]

Automatic Configuration & Setup: Projects hosted on Git services are detected and configured automatically.
Test Parallelization: Splits tests across several emulators for fast execution.
Code signing: Enables automatic signing of both iOS and Android binaries.
Workflows: Different configurations of the project that determine how the project is to be built, tested and published.
Static Code Analysis: Performs code analysis without executing the program.
