Beginnings[edit]

New Rules formed in early 2019; Nathan Lambert had previously been part of the band "The Shades"; after they split up he met Alec McGarry on Instagram and together they found Ryan Meaney on YouTube and invited him to join them.

Discography[edit]

The trio released their first single, "Call It", in April 2019 and followed it up soon after with their second and third songs "Fix Somebody" and "Mountains".

"Fix Somebody" was featured in Season 5 (Episode 12) of the British TV series Love Island on 16.06.2019[1].

On 4th December 2019, they released their first EP, containing four songs ("24 Hours", "Happy Ever After You", "Home Sweet Hotel" and "Night Like This"). The record peaked at position 18 in the British iTunes charts[2].

On 25th March 2020, they released their latest single "Pasta". Upon its release, it reached position 23 in the British iTunes charts[3]. The song revolves around physical insecurities and fans started posting pictures of themselves online to promote the song and to talk about how much it resonated with them. A collage of many of these pictures was used as the official cover art for the song.

The band has talked about plans to release their song "Emily" (which they have already performed live on tour) later this year, the release date is yet to be announced.

Tour[edit]

New Rules supported the singer Julia Michaels on the UK leg of her 2019 Inner Monologue Tour and then proceeded to go on their first headline tour around the UK and Ireland which they documented in a tour diary. After the end of their own tour, they opened for Little Mix on their 2019 tour, playing arenas in the UK and Ireland[4].

They visited Mexico and the Philippines and played shows there before retreating to Sweden to write more music before going on tour again.

In February 2020, New Rules went on their second headline tour around the UK and Ireland, making it their fourth UK tour within the span of half a year. They documented this in another tour diary.

The band have already announced another UK and Ireland tour for October/November 2020.
