The Rangers–Whalers rivalry was an ice hockey rivalry between the New York Rangers and the Hartford Whalers clubs of the National Hockey League (NHL) until after the 1996–97 season when the Whalers franchise relocated to Greensboro, North Carolina, where it became the Carolina Hurricanes (now based in Raleigh).
