The Newcastle Weekly is a local news publication in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. It publishes daily articles online and a print magazine once a month.

Overview[edit]

The Newcastle Weekly covers local stories across Newcastle and the Hunter region including Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Cessnock and Port Stephens. Articles are published 7 days a week by award-winning journalists.[1].

As a trusted, community-focused editorial, the Newcastle Weekly has covered some of Newcastle’s well-known personalities such as Kate Haberfield (NBN News), Brittany Saunders, Mitch Revs, Jess Farichione (Southern Cross Austereo), Timberlina, and local athletes.

History[edit]

The Newcastle Weekly launched in 2015 as a weekly print publication, later moving online as a digital form as well. In May 2022 the Newcastle Weekly closed due to financial reasons and the impact of the COVID pandemic[2].

In June 2022, the Newcastle Weekly announced new ownership, becoming locally owned and operated[3]
