Services
Nexant’s core services include software, utility services, energy and chemicals advising, and government services. Nexant’s software products such as iEnergy Program Management and iEnergy Trade Ally Connect are applied to business processes and the implementation of smart grid, demand management, and renewable energy programs for utilities. Nexant’s Grid360 and iHedge software are used by grid operators and energy resource companies for managing load, forecasting, and hedge congestion risks. In October 2018, Nexant received SAP certification for its iEnergy software.[18] Nexant’s Utility Services team designs and implements energy programs for electric and gas utilities. Delivery services provided include program management, energy engineering and auditing, and call center services. Nexant also provides program, portfolio, and grid planning. Nexant developed the Interruption Cost Estimate Calculator (ICE Calculator) with Berkeley Lab.[19][20] It calculates the costs of electric service interruptions in the event of planned or weather-related outages, such as Pacific Gas & Electric’s planned outages in October 2019, related to preventing forest fires.[21] [22] In partnership with the Smart Electric Power Alliance, Nexant developed a scalable methodology that utilities can integrate into their planning processes to optimize the mix of DERs throughout their distribution system.[23] Nexant also advises the energy, refining, and chemical industries and provides consulting, subscriptions, and training services worldwide.[24] Consulting Services assist companies with strategic planning. Nexant Subscriptions and Reports provide market forecasts across the energy and chemicals industry, such as fertilizer markets.[25] The Nexant Training group hosts public and in-house training courses that take place in multiple countries worldwide. Additionally, the firm engages in planning and developing energy infrastructure and energy efficiency technologies. Since its inception in the year 2000, they have completed more than 2,000 projects in 70 countries.[26] One of its recent projects included a six-year technical assistance program in India funded by USAID.[27] As a part of this program, Nexant assisted Indian Railways in designing its solar rooftop program and the implementation of its first solar rooftop projects.[28]
