Professor Nicholas J Lowe M.B., Ch.B., M.D., F.R.C.P., F.A.C.P., (born 10 July 1944 in England U.K.) is a Consultant Dermatologist, Scientist, Teacher and Author. He has more than 30 years of experience pioneering new treatments, technology and research into skin problems, hair and nail concerns including anti-ageing, skin rejuvenation, acne, psoriasis, skin cancer and all aesthetic procedures including Botox, fillers and lasers. He is trained and speciality board certified in both the UK and the USA, and is acknowledged as one of the world’s leading experts in dermatology and skincare ("DR NICK LOWE". Dr Lowe is a Director and Consultant Dermatologist at the Cranley Clinic for Dermatology, London, U.K and held the position of President of the British Cosmetic Dermatology Group between 2013 - 2015.

From 1968 to 1973 he served as a physician in the Royal Navy Medical Service at their teaching hospital, becoming a Specialist in Medicine to the Royal Navy. In 1975, Dr Lowe was awarded a Research Fellowship at the Scripps Research Institute where he worked with Professor Richard Stoughton, a leader in skin Pharmacology and percutaneous absorption.

His Doctoral MD research thesis described mechanisms and control of excessive epidermal cell growth.

As a Professor of Dermatology at University of Wisconsin USA, Dr Lowe carried out research on how ultraviolet light damages the skin and contributes to skin cancers. In 1980, he also performed the first ground breaking research on a category of the first new sunscreens that protected from long wave ultraviolet (or UVA) and UVB. He also confirmed that UVA was responsible for skin aging, skin cancer, unwanted pigmentation and skin sagging and during this research period he also proved the protectiveness of sunscreens against UVA damage in human studies.Some of the research tests he developed were used throughout the world for testing sunscreen protection of Human Skin.

Research During the 1970’s, 1980’s and 1990’s at UCLA, Dr Lowe directed laboratory and clinical research into the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays on the skin, and specifically it’s link to skin cancer. He also researched treatments to reduce skin cancer and the affects of sunscreens, vitamin A derivatives, carotenoids and other possible cancer reducing drugs.
