Nicholas P. Godici is an American patent official and patent-law consultant who served as acting head of the United States Patent and Trademark Office in 2001 and as Commissioner for Patents from 2000 to 2005.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
Career
Godici spent more than three decades at the USPTO, beginning as a patent examiner and later holding multiple supervisory and executive positions. He became Commissioner for Patents in March 2000 and served in that role until March 2005.[1]
Acting head of the USPTO
In 2001, Godici served as Acting Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Acting Director of the USPTO. A December 2001 USPTO notice delegated him authority to issue patents and register trademarks in that acting capacity.[2]
After leaving government service, Godici worked as a consultant and expert adviser in patent matters.[1]
