Nick deKay is an American stunt performer, actor, producer, director, and writer. He has accumulated over 150 credits in film and television and is a five-time Screen Actors Guild Award nominee and two-time winner.[1] He is best known for his stunt work on Black Panther (2018), Furious 7 (2015), and Stranger Things, and as the director of the 2022 documentary The Ark of Lilburn.
Early life
deKay grew up in Hiram, Maine, where he developed an early interest in physical challenges and martial arts. He began training in karate at the age of six and later pursued Muay Thai boxing competitively, traveling to Thailand to train and fight professionally.[2]
He later pursued a career in information technology, working as a systems analyst and network engineer before becoming Chief Information Officer (CIO) of American Freedom Mortgage, a multi-state mortgage company. Following the 2007 mortgage industry collapse, he left the IT sector.[3]
Athletic career
deKay began racing cars and motorcycles at the age of 19. He competed in the National Auto Sport Association (NASA) and the WERA Motorcycle Road Racing Series, winning several regional championships.[3]
Around 2007, deKay founded Unit 2 Fitness, which grew into one of Atlanta's largest mixed martial arts training facilities. Through the gym, he continued competing in Muay Thai, including professional bouts in Thailand.[3]
Entertainment career
Entry into film
In 2008, a film director approached deKay about using Unit 2 Fitness as a filming location for an independent production. deKay agreed on the condition that he be given a role in the film. His small part sparked a lasting interest in the entertainment industry, and he subsequently pursued a career as a professional stunt performer.[2]
Stunt work
deKay has performed stunts in more than 150 film and television productions.[2] He has performed stunts in multiple Marvel Cinematic Universe productions, including Ms. Marvel and Echo.[4] He portrayed an Alexandria Guard in AMC's The Walking Dead.[5] Notable credits include:

Directing: The Ark of Lilburn (2022)
In 2022, deKay made his feature directorial debut with The Ark of Lilburn, a documentary film produced under his banner Athloach Pictures. The film follows Lowe Porter, owner of Porter Steel in Lilburn, Georgia, and his son Cole Porter as they attempt to transport a 55-foot, 130,000-pound steel yacht built inside a warehouse from Lilburn, Georgia to Tampa, Florida.[6]
The film received worldwide distribution from Gravitas Ventures and was released digitally on December 6, 2022. It is available on Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, and other major streaming platforms.[1]
