Zahir-ad-din Ili | Nigde People |
When Zahir-ad-din Ili left Kayseri and reached Niğde, he changed sides against Malik Kayqubad and started to prepare against him. However, this change of sides did not convince the Sultan very much. The Sultan, who did not accept the betrayal from the beginning, provoked the Rumud (Foot team) section of Niğde and started a rebellion. Zahir-ad-din did not feel safe here and took refuge in Lulue (Ulukışla) Castle. But here, too, he did not feel safe, and went to Sîs and then to Aleppo. And he died of illness in the town of Tell-Bashir, near Aleppo. Thus, Sultan Izz-al-din was saved from a traitor.[1][2][3]
