Senior Special Adviser or Senior Special Assistant also known as the abbreviation (SSA) in Nigeria is a particular role[1] given to a person as the leader of the adviser or assistant to a particular leader, group or organization.[2][3]

Word usage

The word ‘Senior Special Adviser’ (SSA) is an English language commonly used by the Nigerians[4] to address a person especially in the Nigerian government system appointed to such a specific post.[5][6] It is different from the word ‘Senior advisor’ which is used by other countries but has the same specific duty.[7] In Africa, the abbreviation (SSA) can also represent Sub-Saharan Africa.[8][9] The ‘Senior Special Assistant’ (SSA) commonly used in the Nigerian government is a person who assists the leader with other duties.[10]
