Night Train Media
Night Train Media (NTM) was founded in February 2020 by Herbert L. Kloiber, former managing director of European Media Company Tele München Group (TMG). Core segments included development, licensing, co-production and financing of fictional content.[1]
Based in Munich, NTM is a content partner of NENT Group, an entertainment provider in the Nordic region.[2]
Kloiber formed NTM following his tenure as Managing Director of Germany's TMG, where he led its seven subsidiaries including Concorde Film, Concorde Home Entertainment, TELE5, TMI, ODD and Clasart.[3]
In August 2020, NTM and content partner NENT Group, Starlings Television and Canada’s Mediabiz International announced the development of "Veil"[4], a futuristic, female-driven augmented reality drama.
NTM and UK producer Blackbox Multimedia[5] also announced a series based on the novel "The Ex-Wife" by Jess Ryder. It was adapted from the 2018 novel “Something in the Water” by Catherine Steadman (Mabel in “Downton Abbey”).[6]
Another development project, “Doppelgänger,” is an English-language crime drama with Argentina’s Avi Films[7]. It is adapted from a German-language adaptation of the series starring August von Wittgenstein (“Das Boot,” “The Crown”).[7]
On September 10, 2020, NTM announced a long-term investment from Serafin Group[8] Co-Founder Philipp Haindl for current and future projects, as well as future company growth. NTM will remain independent from Serafin’s other activities that focus on industrial sector investments.[7]
Olivia Pahl joined NTM as head of development and co-production in September 2020, overseeing global film, network television and streaming projects after serving in a similar capacity at StudioCanal TV and Tandem Productions. She is focused on the development, licensing, production and financing of English- and local-language fictional content.[9]
During his 2012-19 tenure as Managing Director of TMG, Kloiber led its expansion into the direct-to-consumer market with the SVOD service Filmtastic on Amazon Channels[10], as well as expanding revenue streams internationally through distribution, co-production and direct investments in IP-based production companies such as Stories Media Group.[11]
