Nikesh Shukla
Nikesh Shukla (born 8th July 1980) is an author, screenwriter and fellow of the Royal Society Of Literature. His writing focuses on race and immigration. He is the editor of award-winning collection of essays, The Good Immigrant.[1] (2016), featuring contributions from Riz Ahmed [2], Musa Okwonga, Bim Adewunmi, Reni Eddo-Lodge [3] and more. He is the co-editor of a follow-up collection, with Chimene Suleyman, called The Good Immigrant: 26 Writers Reflect On America [4] (2019).
He is the author of three novels: Coconut Unlimited [5] (2010), which was shortlisted for the Costa First Novel Awards [6] and longlisted for the Desmond Elliott Prize [7], Meatspace [8] (2014) and The One Who Wrote Destiny [9]. He is the author of two books for Young Adults: Run, Riot [10], which was shortlisted for the National Book Awards [11] and won best YA at the CrimeFest Awards [12] (2018) and The Boxer [13].
He co-wrote the short film Two Dosas with Sarmad Masud [14]. The film won both the London Calling Plus 'Jury Award' (2014) and the Aspen Shortsfest's 'Best Comedy' Short Film. It starred Himesh Patel [15]. Danny Boyle awarded the film Best Short at the Shuffle Festival [16] 2017, casting Himesh in the title role of Jack in Yesterday [17].
Nikesh has been a columnist for Observer Magazine and The Pool. He was shortlisted for a Liberty Human Rights Award [18], one of the Bookseller's 100 most influential people in publishing, and one of Foreign Policy's 100 Global Thinkers in 2016 [19]. TIME Magazine recently named him as one of the twelve leaders shaping the next generation of artists [20]
