Nikolaos Roufas (born 2006 (age 19–20)) is a Greek computer science student and researcher whose work focuses on natural language processing, explainable artificial intelligence, and machine learning systems.
Early life and education
Roufas was born in Greece. He began programming at the age of 11, learning independently while developing strong interests in mathematics and computing. During his school years, he participated in robotics competitions and won a regional robotics competition in Greece. He later advanced to the national competition, where his team ranked 48th out of 406 participating teams.[1]
He is currently an undergraduate student in the Department of Computer Science at Ionian University in Greece, where he has ranked among the top students of his cohort.[2]
Research
Roufas’s research focuses on interpretability and reliability in modern artificial intelligence systems. His work investigates how neural networks encode information internally and how their representations can be analyzed to improve transparency and robustness in deployed models.
His research topics include:
- Neural network interpretability
- Drift detection in language models
- Transformer-based analysis methods
- Explainability in deep learning systems
Publications
Roufas has authored and co-authored research papers in artificial intelligence and natural language processing, including work presented at international conferences.[3]
Career goals
Roufas has expressed interest in pursuing doctoral studies and contributing to the development of transparent and trustworthy artificial intelligence systems in academia and industry.[4]
